The Plan

Good day to ya. After this post I will start to put up pages of the comic story I'm working on now called "Back and Forth." The way it's gonna work (or the way I plan it to work, rather) is that I will monthly put up at least four pages. Hopefully if I get into the swing of things and my work ethic improves, that will turn into weekly posting. If that works, then I'll hopefully have the motivation to organize this all into a more reader-friendly website.

However, I'm still also busy with a few other projects and of course the school curriculum, so just in case I fall behind, I'll also start to post pages every so often of the recently-abandoned "Plentiwood." That story was frustrating me, but who knows....maybe I'll be into it further down the line.

So check back now and again and enjoy the slowly-progressing storyline of "Back and Forth."

Drawing Dreams

A few of my images are now featured on a nonprofit-organization website knows as "Drawing Dreams."

The foundation is located in Berkley, and its main purpose is to provide art supplies to children's hospitals. I was pleased they asked me give them some images.

In other news, I've been working a little on some comic pages, but hopefully I will have more paintings to put up once I get the ball rolling for the first couple weeks of school.

Fine, Northeast High Schoolers. Skip art class. I don't care. I'll just make dumb drawings all day long...

Gone Green

I've gone green. The students at Northeast High use waaaay too much paint, and the students of the past never take home their artwork. So, to save on supplies I've been telling the students to bring me their used-paint palettes carrying globs of acrylic, and I've been making pictures over these recycled artworks while the kids finish their assignments. What I have so far:

Things have been a little slow here at Steve Teare's craft shop. I put the paints away for a while to do a short comic for my room mate's zine and I've been slowly working on another story.

"Where's the images?"

Well, I've somehow broken yet another digital-camera-battery-charger, stopping me from taking quick shots of sketches, etc....and the comic work I've been doing is too large for my room mate's scanner.

Also, I've been crazy busy trying to finalize an art teaching gig for next year. More info on that as it happens...

But enough excuses, enough complaints. I'll get my rear in gear soon, and I imagine the summer will allow me more opportunities and space to think than the present moment....

b. A return to Film Photography and weirdo collage books
c. Smallish wooden paintings of pretty things

Haven't posted in a while....been job-hunting. I have a substitute-teaching gig right now, but I'm not sure how secure it is.

In cooler news, I have a painting show at the antique shop "Perpetua" in the Frankford section of Philadelphia.

Two Fatalities

So, one employee was trampled to death at a New Jersey Wal-Mart, and a Pregnant Woman was injured to the point of a miscarriage. At five o clock in the morning. That's at least two fatalities for this year's Black Friday. Now, was this all worth the discounts, folks?

Anyway, my last day at Northeast is this Thursday. I had a great time, and I learned a lot. I'm forever in Mark's debt, but more so in Temple's debt...

Balanced Coins

A peso coin, a quarter, and a dime-balanced on my roommate's table. This took a patient five or ten minutes of holding each coin between two fingers until they stood standing, but it was worth it.

I'm putting finishing touches on a new painting in my freaky creepy basement, and I'm getting farther along in another one.

I'm between projects in student teaching, but we've got some great artwork being made in that classroom. Be sure to check out Room 122's blog for some upcoming examples.

Here's some crazy-old artwork for ya, because there are so few new things I'm working on. Student teaching is taking up most of my time (rightfully-so), but I do promise a couple new paintings and hopefully some comic-work. Anyway, I thought I'd share these antiques. This is mostly around the 2006-era....back when I still used pencils to sketch, I still painted on canvas, and I still used watercolors. Oh, how the times have changed. Anyway, the photo of Shawn is from high school when we were newish friends, but the quote I added I think before Freshman year. The rest of the art I don't think I have anymore; either given away or sold at First Friday or whatever. Save for the sketches, of course.....

A few select pages from book one of "Fossils." Sean Hamilton and Shawn Annable helped me do the audio with character voices from the likes of Henry Koon, Sean and Shawn, Victoria Tresko, and yours truly. The book (should I choose to continue it) will be divided into two main stories; "The Plum-Heart War" (crazy tribal Dino warfare) and "Jared and Jimbo" (sitcom-style sibling life set in the future between a teacher and an adopted Dino).
